Don’t Let Your Health Insurance Give You a Fright!

Haunted by Insurance Changes Gilliam Insurance

It was a dark and stormy night…

You opened a letter from your health insurance company and discovered that your doctor might not be in network next year. Then you checked your prescriptions, and the price looked different. Suddenly, that friendly little insurance plan started feeling like a haunted house filled with confusing copays, disappearing benefits and unexpected bills!

Fortunately, you don’t have to face those insurance “monsters” alone.

Before You Call the Insurance Company, Call Me First

When you call an insurance company directly, you are normally speaking with someone who represents that one company. They can explain their plans, but they generally cannot help you compare that plan with options from other insurance companies.

That is where I come in.

As your local licensed insurance agent, I can help you look at the whole picture, including:

  • Your doctors and specialists
  • Your preferred hospitals
  • Your prescription medications
  • Your pharmacies
  • Copays and deductibles
  • Dental, vision and hearing benefits
  • Additional benefits for which you may qualify

If you receive a confusing letter, an unexpected phone call or something that simply doesn’t look right, don’t panic, and don’t make changes on the spot. Call me first so we can review it together.

Beware of Insurance Tricks

Halloween is the season for costumes, but unfortunately, some callers disguise themselves all year long.

Be cautious if someone:

  • Pressures you to change plans immediately
  • Promises benefits without checking your eligibility
  • Asks for your Medicare number unexpectedly
  • Claims to be “from Medicare” and requests personal information
  • Tells you that you must act before speaking with your agent

Never give personal information to an unexpected caller. Hang up and call me. I’ll help you determine whether the call or offer is legitimate.

The Best Treat You Can Send My Way 🍬

If I have helped make insurance less scary for you, the greatest compliment you can give me is a referral.

You may know a friend, neighbor, coworker, church member or family member who is:

  • Turning 65
  • Losing employer coverage
  • Confused about Medicare
  • Struggling with prescription costs
  • Concerned about whether a doctor or hospital will remain in network
  • Paying too much for health insurance
  • Looking for Extra Help or other assistance programs

Please send them my name and number, or send me their contact information after receiving their permission. I will give them the same patient, personal attention that I give you. There is never an obligation to enroll.

Let’s Keep the Frights for Halloween

Insurance should bring peace of mind, not tricks, confusion or frightening surprises. Before making a change or calling an insurance company directly, call me first.
