(Especially this Time of Year)
As we head into June, with warmer weather, travel plans, and holidays like Father’s Day and Independence Day, you may start seeing more Medicare commercials on TV.
They make it sound simple:
“Call this number now to get more benefits!”
But here’s the truth most people don’t realize…
You May Not Be Talking to a Local, Trusted Advisor
When you call those TV numbers, you’re usually routed to a large call center, not someone who knows you, your doctors, or your area.
- You may speak to a different person every time
- They don’t know local provider networks
- Their goal is often to make a quick enrollment
That’s very different from working with someone who knows you.

⚠️ Did You Know?
When you call numbers you see on TV or online, your information is often shared or sold to multiple companies.
This can lead to:
- 20–30 unwanted calls per day
- Constant sales calls from different agents
- Pressure to make quick decisions
Many people don’t realize this until their phone starts ringing nonstop.
Plans Can Be Changed Without You Fully Understanding
One of the biggest risks is that you could be switched into a plan that:
- Doesn’t cover your doctor
- Changes your prescription costs
- Limits your coverage without you realizing it
And unfortunately, by the time you find out, it can be stressful to fix.
🩺 New for 2026: Some People Can Change Plans Year-Round
Here’s something important that many people don’t know…
If you have certain chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or other qualifying health issues, you may be eligible for a Special Needs Plan (C-SNP).
These plans can offer:
- Lower copays
- Additional benefits (like food cards and support programs)
- More coordinated care for your condition
👉 And here’s the key part:
You may be able to enroll or make a change outside of the normal enrollment periods.
This means you do NOT have to wait until the fall if your current plan isn’t working for you.
🏡 Local Matters More Than You Think
Medicare is not one-size-fits-all, especially in our area.
Working with a local, independent agent means:
- Your doctors and hospitals are reviewed
- Your prescriptions are checked
- You are told if you qualify for year-round enrollment options
- You have someone you can call anytime, not just during enrollment
🌸 A Better Approach This Season
Instead of calling a random number on TV…
✔ Ask someone you trust
✔ Double-check before making changes
✔ Work with someone who understands your specific needs
Especially heading into summer travel and family gatherings, it’s a great time to make sure everything is set up correctly.
💐 A Little Reminder
With the upcoming summer months, many of us are spending more time with family.
It’s the perfect opportunity to ask:
“Does Mom (or Dad) have the right Medicare coverage?”
“Is anyone struggling with prescription costs or health conditions?”
Sometimes one simple conversation can make a big difference.
